AEON GENESIS
Splatterworld

Splatterworld is several things.

First, it is a cutesy RPG spinoff of Namco's Splatterhouse property. It's a sequel to the Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti cutesy platformer on the Famicom, which was never released outside of Japan. It's a parody of horror films and loves to poke fun at them.

It's also a prototype. The game was never commercially released, and was only made available online on Halloween night this year (2025.) Naturally, I jumped right on it.

From a progress perspective, I've reached a point where all of the basic technical work is complete. There are still potential improvements and there's still polishing, but all UIs have been translated, the script extracts and reinserts automatically, and the bulk of the work is done. From a text perspective as of this writing 55% of the strings have been translated, but it's important to note that this does not mean that 55% of the text by volume is done -- a single word enemy or item is weighted the same in this calculation as the entire opening text scroll. I would hazard that while all of the non-dialog has been done (item lists, enemy names, spells, the battle narrative, and a few cutscenes) the main dialog translation is probably sitting closer to about 30%, and then there's extra editing and testing to be done. But it's moving along quite fast, all things considered.

Please note that while not placeholder, none of the text (including names!) is final and it's all subject to change.
